Official Obituary of
Joseph E. Basilio
September 24, 1952 ~ September 29, 2019 (age 67)

Joseph E. (Joe) Basilio age 67, passed away peacefully at his home in Oxford, Pennsylvania on Sunday, September 29, 2019. Born in West Chester, PA, he became a resident of Kennett Square when his family relocated to the home he was raised in by his parents, the late Anthony N. Basilio, Sr. and Mary R. Mozzani. Joe became an Oxford resident upon his marriage in 1980 and remained so until his passing. Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Jean of 39 years, two brothers, James and his wife Linda of Swarthmore; Anthony (Tony), of Kennett Square; two sisters, Marie Phillips and her husband Roger of Alburtis; a sister Carol; a brother-in-law, Matthew McBride and his wife Beth of Virginia; a sister-in-law, Mary Plumley of Kennett Square; a sister-in-law, Christine Hojnacki and her husband Stephen of Downingtown and a brother-in-law Andrew McBride and his wife Jennifer of Landenberg. Joe is also survived by several aunts and uncles, cousins, numerous nieces, nephews, grand nephews and a grand niece, all whom he loved and valued as part of his life. Joe put his faith in to practice and was a very kind and loving person, who had nothing but good in his heart and possessed the desire to help his fellow man with the talents God gave him. He had a giving and forgiving heart and showed nothing but love and kindness for anyone he met. He called everyone friend and had a talent for making people feel at ease. Joe loved animals and had a special place in his heart for his pet cats and helped ease the struggle of several neighborhood kitties, some of whom he helped find forever homes. He also liked to take care of his winged friends and enjoyed watching their antics at the feeder. Joe liked to garden and derived pleasure creating many beautiful flower beds for which he received numerous compliments. Our loss can be tempered by the knowledge that Joe was called by God to his eternal reward in Heaven and the hope that we will all one day be reunited with him when God calls us home at the appointed hour. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 4, 2019 from 10:00 to 11:00 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, located at 203 Church Road, Oxford, PA 19363, with Internment immediately after.
